The below case studies are the first round of biographies submitted by our researchers using the templates and resources available on the More Than Oliver Twist website. By the end of the project, we hope to accumulate a full database of biographies from all six regional locations involved in the project.
Below are previously researched accounts of nineteenth-century paupers that have inspired the biographies created for the More Than Oliver Twist project. These pauper narratives are the product of careful and detailed linking of source material: census, newspapers, records in local and national archives and poor law records. Please note: these four narratives have not been produced using More Than Oliver Twist resources and templates.
